Why Is It Youngsters Just Don't Seem To Give A %^& About Matters Environmental?
We need to get the gen. x'ers and the consuming classes of twenty and thirty year olds to get out there and take some action to change the course of history by tuning in and doing stuff.
Why is it that younger folk just don’t seem to give a toss about matters environmental? I mean if you go and check out the blogosphere all you find is fashion, facebook, techie stuff like linux and that but no matter how hard you look there is pretty much nothing about our environment or our world or how it is going to hell.
I know this age group cares, maybe they just think everything will be fine once they get done with whatever they are busy with? Like jolling or being consumers or fashion icons or networking or whatever? Hello, wake up, the dawn is coming.
And I have this to say to you before you go to sleep again – if you wait too long its going to be too late. It’s as simple as that. This world that you happen to inhabit, even if that’s reluctant inhabitance with habits to distract you from what is really going on, is crumbling. And folks the reason its crumbling is that this generation is living on planet imagine and not on planet real. Your folks stuffed up, sure but its time to go out and take charge.
So lets be real and be here and look at the huge mess we are in, or is that too depressing or heavy to deal with? Well, its time to chuck out the me - ness and look at the we – ness, because without all working on this together we ain’t got a hope.
And this is another message I am getting – that we ain’t got a hope so we may as well just carry on and have fun and pretend that nothing is happening, like I said a moment ago. But that’s not going to work either because sooner or later you are - correction, we all are - going to hit a wall. The wall is called the natural limit of human stupidity and greed, commonly referred to as the carrying capacity of planet earth.
People, when we hit this wall we are going to have a very unhappy time, its no good just ignoring it. We are going to run out of oil, we are going to run out of stuff, we are going to run out of food and we are going to run out of water. And that is just for starters.
So maybe the idea of having a jol and ignoring what is going on seems like a good idea but the problem is that like all good things, sooner or later the account at the end of the meal marches out with the waiter person. As much as we may all duck and dive, we have to pay our way or our friends will just dump us. The fact is, our friends are all of us, we are all one people, stuck to the surface of this small green planet by the suck of gravity and soles of our shoes.
And never forget you are being distracted. The people who are making this all happen – and this is not a conspiracy theory, its just how things are – are making money out of your don’t give a fuck attitude, they are milking it for all its worth and they are not nice people. Do you really want to give your money and time to a bunch of pricks who rip you off and fuck up your world while they are about it? No of course you don’t.
So let me tell you that there is plenty you can do about all of this. You can engage, not just with your buddies but with the sorry sods who are profiting from proliferation of plastic, who are oil oligarchs, who are sucking the blood from our biosphere. We can create our own communities and cut them out of the loop, we can make things hard for them by exposing their manipulative ways. I mean is it cool to just veg out in front of the idiot box or blast your head out on dwaaling and then not do all of the stuff you really wanted to do - or is it cool to actually go out there and kick butt?
Is it cool to go and tag just to put your name up in the ‘hood or is it cool to go out and jam the commercial whores of Babylon who sell the crap that is killing our world by making it appear cool? We need to monkeywrench the system before it monkeywrenches us. And we can only do that by getting active by being interactive and by taking charge.
We can change the world. We must change the world and by all that is hot in hell and chilly in Clifton water, we must go out there and change it with every means at our disposal. There is no longer any excuse to put it off. Consider yourself on notice.
